Hey There! 😊

For me, one of the absolute joys of this time of year is taking a little trip to explore our wonderful local wineries. There’s just something so refreshing about enjoying the beautiful scenery, the budding leaves, and the fresh air, all while discovering a new favorite local wine. Let me tell you about a few of the places that come to mind when I think about a perfect spring outing:

  1. Bear Claw Vineyards:

Located just about 2 miles from downtown Blue Ridge, Bear Claw Vineyards has such a relaxed feel, and the scenery is just beautiful! They often have live music on the weekends and different food trucks popping up from time to time. Bear Claw is a really nice spot to experience some locally made wines!

  1. Crane Creek Vineyards:

Crane Creek could really be called the pioneer of winemaking here in the North Georgia mountains. It’s interesting to know that the family who took that chance and planted the first vines still own the vineyard 30 years later. The environment is exactly what you might picture for a mountain winery! They offer tastings and little bites to go with the wine, and they even have an onsite restaurant, Paris and Company, if you’re looking for more food options. This amazing vineyard is located about 30 minutes from Blue Ridge in Young Harris, Georgia.

  1. Chateau Meichtry:

This winery has such a unique story, with over 100 years of history tied to a special vine stock! The scenery is just gorgeous, and with live entertainment and food trucks, you can easily spend a whole day there. If you’re planning ahead, you can even rent a private gazebo for the day. Chateau Meichtry is located about 30 minutes from Blue Ridge.

  1. Mercier Orchards:

I can’t forget to mention our own Mercier Orchard wine. The orchard has been a part of our community since the 1940s, but their winemaking is fairly new. You can experience farm wine made from things like strawberries, blackberries, and of course, apples!

Roo Mountain Vineyards

For a fun and easy way to visit a few of these, our friends at Mountain Transportation can pick you up at your cabin and take you around to experience different wineries, and then bring you back safely!

It’s just wonderful how many great things we have around here. Even though wineries and vineyards are a more recent addition to our mountain communities, they’ve already become such a nice part of our local tourism, and we’re so fortunate to be able to add them to our list of North Georgia mountain attractions!

Now that I’ve been thinking about all of this, I’m feeling like planning my own local wine tour…

Cheers!
