Hey There! 😊
If you’re looking to make the most of the abundant natural beauty in our region, you’re in for a treat. Blue Ridge is located in the heart of the Chattahoochee National Forest, placing us close to many wonderful State Parks. These state parks are preserved and protected so that future generations can also enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us.
Our Top State Park Picks Near Blue Ridge:
- Amicalola Falls State Park:
I’ve been visiting this park my entire life, and for years, my own children and I have enjoyed the magnificent waterfall! The steps leading to the waterfall are an adventure in themselves. This park offers a wide range of activities, from access to the infamous Appalachian Trail to hatchet throwing and ziplining! Don’t forget you can also hike to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in all of the South! There are several hiking trails in the park (some are stroller-friendly), along with a visitor’s center featuring a café and picnic area. You can expect about a 45-minute drive from Blue Ridge to Amicalola Falls State Park.
- Vogel State Park:
This park is the setting for some of my fondest childhood memories! I vividly recall going on school field trips to this park and having a class picnic at the beach. The sandy beach is located on a small but pristine mountain lake with paddle boat rentals! The park is very easy to find and offers so many activities like hiking, swimming, fishing, paddle boating, and there’s even a miniature golf course. This is a perfect day trip from our cabins in Blue Ridge! Vogel State Park is about 30 minutes from Blue Ridge and well worth the trip!
- Unicoi State Park:
This is one of the most popular state parks in Georgia and is only about 45 minutes from Blue Ridge. You can expect awesome outdoor activities like hatchet throwing, archery, and target shooting with air rifles, as well as lake activities like fly fishing, canoeing, and swimming! Make a day out of your trip and visit Helen, Georgia (an Alpine village in the mountains), as well as Anna Ruby Falls while you’re in the area!
We are so proud to live in an area where the natural beauty of nature surrounds us, and these parks offer a fantastic way to make the most of it! We are grateful to our amazing Georgia State Parks department for maintaining these parks so that we may all enjoy them!
Until next time!
