Tips for Enjoying Blue Ridge with Your Canine Companion 🐕

Hey there,
It is always so fun to go on vacation with your dog! We love your fur babies and gladly welcome them to our pet friendly cabins. Let us help you plan some activities for you and your furry friend to enjoy while visiting Blue Ridge!
Traveling Around with Your Pup
Blue Ridge is a very dog-friendly town, though to ensure you and your pup have the best time possible, here are a few friendly reminders and tips for traveling around with your dog:
- Always keep your dog on a leash unless in designated off-leash areas.
- Be sure to bring water, waste bags, and any supplies your dog may need for a comfortable outing.
- Check with businesses and outfitters ahead of time for their current dog policies, as rules may change.
Outdoor Activities
Blue Ridge is surrounded by stunning nature and offers several dog-friendly hiking trails. One great series of trails we’d recommend checking out are the Aska Adventure Area trails. These trails are free and all open year round. This is a great way to get out and see the undisturbed parts of the forest and get some exercise for you and your buddy!
Downtown Blue Ridge
Many restaurants and cafes in downtown Blue Ridge have outdoor seating areas and patios where dogs are welcome. We’d recommend giving a call ahead and checking with restaurants that offer outside dining to see if dogs are welcome, as many do. Some places we know welcome them include Angry Hops Brewing and Grumpy Old Men Brewing.
Dog Parks
There are several great dog parks located right in town. The Human Society of Blue Ridge‘s fenced, off-leash dog park gives pups a chance to run and play with other dogs. There are separate areas for small and large dogs, seating for owners, and water stations. There’s also the Blue Ridge Adventure Dog, an awesome spot that is both a bar and a dog park! It’s located right across from Angry Hops Brewing in downtown.
Hopefully these gave you some fun ideas! Blue Ridge is a great place to visit with your furry companion, and we offer several fantastic pet friendly cabins with fenced in yards and play areas for dogs, including:
- Appalachian Getaway – Sleeps up to 6, screened porch, 4 miles from downtown
- As Good As it Gets – Sleeps up to 6, all paved roads, one level, covered parking
- Whispering Water Lodge – Sleeps up to 8 with 4 kings suites, Fightingtown Creek
